City of Ypsilanti Awarded Top National Solar Recognition

(YPSILANTI, MI) June 1, 2017: The City of Ypsilanti is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a Gold designation for supporting solar energy development by SolSmart, a national organization dedicated to helping communities reduce barriers to solar energy growth. To achieve the Gold designation, a community must take steps to streamline solar panel installation permitting, track key metrics regarding solar installation, and commit to encouraging local solar installations. Ypsilanti is the only community in Michigan to achieve this award, and one of only 58 communities nationwide.

    Just wanted to hi from your long ago past.

    We just saw your blog and wanted to see if you have a quick start guide for starting solar. We are considering it for installation on the roof of our new barn in New Mexico.

  2. Photovoltaics are now under $1/W and costs for balance of system have dropped dramatically in the past 3 years. In 2014 I budgeted $2,400 K for a new 5kW US made inverter, and bought a newer model in 2015 for only $1,200. If you live where there’s lots of sun solar is cheaper than any other source. My system pays off in 2 more years by zeroing my bill, leaving me with 20+ years of guaranteed free power. It costs 1/2 c/mi. to power my EV. Welcome to progress!
